Take action for Yasaman from Iran and get rewarded with a Human Rights Tattoo
Human Rights Tattoo and Amnesty International are partnering up for International Day of Human Rights 2019. We will make 10 Human Rights Tattoos available in support of Yasaman Aryani, an actress from Iran who is currently imprisoned. The ten letters form the words ?free choice? of article 23 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and will be tattooed on the 14th of December in Amsterdam, NL.
16 years in prison
The 24-year-old Iranian actress Yasaman Aryani did something very courageous on International Women?s Day 2019. She handed out flowers to female train passengers and did not wear a hijab. Yasaman fights for a world where women can choose which clothes to wear. That is not possible in Iran. Yasaman was sentenced to 16 years in prison, of which she must serve at least 10. Her mother, who also participated in the protest, received the same punishment. We call on the Iranian authorities to release Yasaman immediately and unconditionally.
Free Choice
To become 1 of the 10 people who will get a tattoo we ask you to participate in our Yasaman support rally. This can be done by a creative protest, organizing your own Write for Rights event or taking action in your own way for this courageous women?s rights activist. On December 10th we will select the 10 best initiatives from all participants. Our reward: a Human Rights Tattoo! For the first time in the history of the Human Rights Tattoo project, we will tattoo one specific sentence consisting of two words during one specific event: free choice – from article 23 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This not only makes the chosen participants part of the largest network of human rights activists in the world, but it also connects them to a special group of activists who have committed themselves to Yasaman Aryani. We will tattoo the winners on December 14th in Amsterdam. Afterwards we will photograph the entire group forming the ?free choice? sentence.
Show us your protest
To get rewarded with a Human Rights Tattoo participants are challenged to impress us by writing piles of letters for Yasaman or by taking action in your own creative way. There are two options to show us your activity, live in Amsterdam or digital.
Now?until?December 9 – Digital participation
You can organize your own Write for?Rights event or take action with a creative protest for Yasaman.?You can present your campaign ideas and results online until December 9th at 5 PM. December 10 – Live participation
Present your creative protest for Yasaman personally at the Amnesty House in Amsterdam from 10 AM until 6 PM. Or,?bring all your friends and family December 10th and join Write for Rights at the Amnesty House in Amsterdam together. Write until your fingers are sore and show us your results. Sander and Niki from Human Rights Tattoo are present from 10 AM until 6 PM to meet you, count your letters and see your campaign results.
On December 10th at 6 PM we will select the 10 best initiatives from all participants. We will tattoo the winners on December 14th in Amsterdam.
