Tattoo announcement

Solidarity without borders

International art and tattoo project Human Rights Tattoo is very proud to announce that it will have her first Lithuanian events in collaboration with Coming Out, The Others and Lithuanian Gay Ligue.
Human Rights Tattoo will have two tattoo days at 20 and 21 February where the project continues to tattoo the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, letter by letter.
Today, many civil society organizations from Belarus and Russia have been forced to relocate and operate in exile. Even from abroad, we continue to defend human rights, support people in our home countries, and assist those who have also been forced to flee repressive regimes, because leaving does not mean giving up, and solidarity does not stop at borders.

What does it cost?

You don’t have to pay for your Human Rights Tattoo. However, Human Rights Tattoo project does depend on donations to spread these tattoos worldwide. That is why we ask for your donation, to make the project universally accessible, regardless your country, background or budget. We ask each participant to consider that not all human beings are equal to donate.

Apply

The application process is now closed. As there are a few more open slots you are welcome to come by on the 20 or 21th to see if we have any cancellations or open slots. As this will be on  a first come first serve basis we encourage you to come as early as possible (we will open at 11.00).

Procedure for those already registered:
– All selected participants have received an email with a date and time for their tattoo.
– If for any reason you are not in time for the tattoo, we cannot guarantee your participation.

When getting tattooed:

People will receive a registration card with their letter on it. You can’t choose your letter but the font and position on your body is up to you. You can pick a font type from the Human Rights Tattoo fonts catalogue that will be available on the spot. After your tattoo is done a super up-close picture of your tattoo is taken and published on our website together with your written statement. Please think about your statement upfront. A good statement is personal and gives an insight in your life and your personal relation to human rights.
