Tattoo Event

Pimp my Carroça

When?

July 13, 2022

Where?

Sao Paulo, Brazil

More details to be confirmed here soon.

This summer we celebrate our mutual 10-year anniversary with the Brazilian artivist Mundano and his team of ‘Pimp My Carroca’. https://pimpmycarroca.com

Mundano, originally a graffiti artist, started pimping the so-called called carroças, the self-built garbage collection carts of the Catadores in Sao Paolo in 2012.

Catadores are independent garbage collectors, mostly living in the lowest levels of society. The aim is to draw attention to this essential, but vulnerable link which is responsible for 90% of the waste separation process. Mundano’s globally successful project led to the Cataki app, the ‘Uber of waste’, which connects consumer and waste collector.

By inviting the Catadores, the artivists, the media and the politicians for a human rights tattoo, Mundano aims to unite all, and emphasise environmental issues in a joint responsibility.

Procedure of getting a tattoo

Upon arrival at the event you can register for a Human Rights Tattoo. You will receive a registration card with your letter on it. This will be the next letter in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. You can’t choose your letter but the font and the position on your body is up to you. You can pick a font type from the Human Rights Tattoo fonts catalogue that will be available on the spot. After your tattoo is done we take a super up-close picture of your tattoo, and a portrait that will be published on our website together with your statement. Please think about your statement (in English) upfront. A good statement is personal and gives an insight in your life and your personal relation to human rights.

Pay As You Please

Human Rights Tattoo works with a Pay As You Please system. This means you pay what you can afford to make this project accessible for everyone, no matter your background or budget.

Human Rights Tattoo depends on your donations. We aim to spread the project around the world and to bring Human Rights Tattoo to places and countries where human rights are not taken for granted. You can leave your contribution in our Pay As You Please Box on the spot or make your donation here.
