STREAMING EVENT, MARCH 1, 18.30 CET
INTERNATIONAL WHEELCHAIR DAY: Curbs on the road to human rights
For the second time we, at HRT, are celebrating the International Wheelchair Day with our partners the Jawalakhel Wheelchair Sports Club from Nepal. Our last pre-pandemic event was in Nepal celebrating this Day together, with a wheelchair rally in the capital Kathmandu. The aim was to demand attention from the Nepali government and people for the plight of wheelchair users who are particularly affected by the broken roads and pavements after that major earthquake in 2015. We ended the well-attended rally with a tattoo session of all our Nepali friends.
Traveling with us was Mari Sanders, the Dutch filmmaker https://www.marisanders.nl/, who’s short portrait of Bharat BC, of the Jawalakhel Wheelchair Sports Club will premiere at this event. This event also reunites Mari and Bharat exactly two years after we celebrated this day together in Nepal.
When?
1 March 2022, 18.30 CET
The program
The premiere screening of ‘Bharat BC; letter 4221: R’
A short video portrait by Mari Sanders of Bharat BC, a young man who against all odds overcomes being stuck in a wheelchair in rural Nepal and manages to get a Master degree.
Q&A with:
- Bharat BC, chair person of the Jawalakhel Wheelchair Sports Club, Kathmandu, Nepal (letter 4221: R)
- and Dutch Filmmaker Mari Sanders, https://www.marisanders.nl/ (letter 4216: F)
